Archbishop Dr. Joseph Alexander, Founder and Chancellor

Archbishop Alexander founded New Covenant Christian School in humble obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in order to provide a safe learning environment for children grounded in Christian ideals. The school has two campuses in the Bronx, NY  and provides educational programs for children from Preschool through High School. Helping working parents and under-performing students to succeed in their academic endeavors is one of the objectives of the school. The students of the elementary and middle school are among New York City’s brightest, and New Covenant Christian High School boasts of a 100 per cent graduation rate. Archbishop Alexander holds two Bachelors Degrees in Theology and Economics. He completed his Masters of Arts in Economics in 1982 after a year of studies at Fordham University and a year of studies at Lehman College, respectively. In 1985, he earned a Doctorate Degree in Sociology & Urban Policy from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He has been awarded two honorary Doctor of Divinity and Humanities Degrees from the International Christian University, Benin, in recognition of his contributions to Christian Theology and his impact among the poor communities of the world. In his role as Chancellor, he serves as the highest executive of the school to oversee its operations in accordance with the guidelines established by the New Covenant Board of Christian School Education. He is also the presiding prelate of New Covenant Christian Ministries Worldwide, the church which sponsors NCCS. Each NCCS school is co-located with a church.

Bishop Levi Cleare, Jr., Superintendent of Spiritual Affairs

Bishop Cleare has been a member of the senior management team of New Covenant for more than 15 years. He  is the overseer of New Covenant Christian Ministries Worldwide, manages the pastoral leadership of the church, and teaches courses in theology in the church’s seminary. As NCCS Superintendent of Spiritual Affairs, he brings considerable theological knowledge to bear in support of the school leadership in teaching sound doctrine as well as managing disciplinary issues.  In this role, he serves as the bridge between New Covenant Christian Church and New Covenant Christian School, ensuring that the school’s spiritual climate  maintains a godly aroma full of grace. He completed his studies at Pensacola Christian College, holds a Masters Degree in Ministries from the Ambassadors College of Ministries, and has also completed numerous professional development seminar and workshops in the area of Church Growth/Leadership and Financial Management of Modern Not-For-Profit Organizations.

Rev. Mardette Alexander, Superintendent of Academic Affairs

Rev. Alexander is an educator and co-founder of the New Covenant Christian School system. She brings considerable expertise in curriculum development, instructional scheduling, and academic management. She holds a Masters Degree in Education from Hunter College of the City University of New York, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Boston University. She has over thirty years of teaching experience with the New York City Board of Education and holds a New York teaching license. After she retired from NYC Board of Education, she went into full-time ministry as the NCCS Superintendent of Academic Affairs. She is also a Senior Pastor of New Covenant Christian Church USA and works closely with Archbishop Alexander and his senior management team to advance the growth strategy of the NCCS educational system.

Minister Rachel Macarthy, Director of Finance & Administration

Minister Macarthy oversees the administration of the entire New Covenant Christian School System and ensures that both campuses run smoothly. A product of Christian School education herself, Minister Macarthy completed her elementary and secondary education at New Covenant Christian School. Fueled by a firm belief in the value of a Christ-centered education from her own experiences, she has served as school administrator at New Covenant for over 10 years. She holds a Bachelors of Business Administration with a specialization in Finance from Howard University and is an ordained Minister at New Covenant Christian Church.

Mrs. Verna Blake, Principal of Northeast Campus

Mrs. Blake has been a key staff member of New Covenant Christian School for over 18 years, first serving as an elementary school teacher. With her many years of teaching experience and passion for Christian school administration, she became Principal of the Northeast Campus in 1998. During her tenure, the Northeast campus has enjoyed Universal Pre-kindergarten (UPK) funding from the New York City Department of Education for more than ten consecutive years. She holds a Masters Degree in School Administration from the College of New Rochelle.


Mrs. Marcia Mark, Principal of South Campus - Early Childhood Center

Mrs. Mark started her early career as an assistant teacher at New Covenant Christian School in the Kindergarten classroom in 1988. It was here that she discovered her true calling and God-given talents. After a seventeen-year career as an elementary school teacher where she taught the first grade for most of those years, Mrs. Mark was tapped to head the Early Childhood Learning Center of New Covenant Christian School in 2005 as principal. Marcia Mark is also a member of New Covenant Christian Church, where she enjoys working in the Youth Ministry.  She holds a B.A in Sociology/Early Childhood Minor and an M.S in Childhood Education from Lehman College (CUNY) in the Bronx.
